My husband, Chris, and I have been vegan for five years; and in that time we have never tried plant-based yogurt or marshmallows! We transitioned to a plant-based diet when our son, Ryerden, was 4 months old, so he has never eaten yogurt or marshmallows – vegan or otherwise. We thought it would be fun to film our taste-test of a few flavours of YOSO Soygo Soy Yogurt and Dandies Marshmallows. We also found Vanilla Nut Teeccino, and were curious to give it a try.

We found a multi-pack that included three flavour varieties: vanilla, blueberry, and strawberry.
The YOSO Soygo Yogurt in Vanilla reminded Chris and I of a cross between a vanilla yogurt and a vanilla pudding flavour. Vanilla was Ryerden’s favourite yogurt flavour, and this one grew on me as I tried it a few more times. The vanilla flavour wasn’t Chris’s favourite, but he enjoyed it nonetheless.

Ryerden’s favourite yogurt flavour & one of Meg’s favourite yogurt flavours
The YOSO Soygo Yogurt in Blueberry was one of our favourite foods that we taste-tested today! It was very reminiscent of traditional blueberry yogurt. It was creamy, and the blueberry flavour tasted fresh and natural.

Chris’s favourite of the day & one of Meg’s favourite yogurt flavours
The YOSO Soygo Yogurt in Strawberry was good, but not our favourite of the bunch. We would repurchase the strawberry flavour in the multi-pack, but probably not as a stand-alone product. Ryerden’s favourite was the vanilla flavour; but he also said that the strawberry flavour tasted like ice cream!

Teeccino – Vanilla Nut Flavour
Chris and I are both coffee drinkers and usually enjoy a cup (or two) daily. I had heard of a few different caffeine-free coffee replacements and was curious to test one out. We found the Vanilla Nut Teeccino at our local health food store and decided to give it a go. Unfortunately, Chris wasn’t a fan of the Teeccino. He said it reminded him of a weaker version of an instant coffee. I enjoyed the flavour, but it also wasn’t my favourite. I would be more likely to drink a flavoured coffee if I want a beverage like this, since I’m not too concerned about the caffeine content personally. I do think it could be a good option for those seeking a caffeine-free alternative in the evening, or for those who have stopped drinking coffee altogether. Surprisingly, Ryerden really enjoyed this coffee alternative! We’re unlikely to repurchase unless Ryerden was keen to have some, or if we decided to go caffeine-free in future.

UPDATE March 28, 2021 – After some experimentation, I have discovered that I really enjoy Teeccino with half boiling water and half almond milk. It’s fun to drink a coffee-like beverage without the caffeine in the evening and it tastes great! I’ve really been enjoying it and need to give it an updated rating of 5/5! We will definitely repurchase the Vanilla Nut Teeccino from time to time, and I’m curious to try other flavours as well.

Dandies Marshmallows – Vanilla Flavour
We definitely had DRAMATICALLY different opinions on the Dandies Vanilla Flavoured Marshmallows. Chris hated them, while Ryerden and I absolutely loved them! They are very sweet, and the same texture and flavour we remember from non-vegan marshmallows. Vegan marshmallows are not a product we would repurchase often, but Ryerden and I both really enjoyed them.

Ryerden and Meg’s favourites of the day
We also tried these marshmallows in crispy puffed quinoa dessert squares using quinoa cereal. They turned out quite well, but we would add more cereal to the mix next time (and try them without the chocolate chips).
