Vegan Snacks-First Impressions and Reviews (Fruit Strips, Energy Balls, Chocolate, Dried Fruit)

We like to keep it whole food plant-based (WFPB) the vast majority of the time, but it’s also nice to have packaged vegan treats here and there. We tested some dried fruit as well as some other oil free vegan snack items. The snacks we tested and reviewed are great options when you’re on the go, or want to enjoy a tasty treat!

Dried Fruit

All of the dried fruit we are testing for review is just the fruit with no added oil, sugar, or salt. Dried fruit is one of our son’s favourite snacking options. Check out our dried fruit favourites here.

Bella Viva Orchards Pure & Natural Apple Slices

Bella Viva Orchards Pure & Natural Apple Slices are delicious! They have a chewy texture and all three of us thoroughly enjoyed them! Since filming the video, we finished the whole bag of dried apple slices, and we would definitely repurchase these.

One of our top 3 favourites

Bella Viva Orchards Pure & Natural Peach Slices

We were excited to find Bella Viva Orchards Pure & Natural Peach Slices since we had never seen dried peaches in store before! They were good, but they were not my favourite (or Chris’s favourite) dried fruit. Ryerden enjoyed them, but I don’t think we would repurchase these.

Elan Organic Pineapple Chunks

The Elan Organic Pineapple Chunks had the family divided. Ryerden and I really enjoyed the sweet pineapple flavour. Chris had issues with the texture, and said they were somewhat reminiscent of wood shavings from a hamster cage. I wholeheartedly disagree with his assessment. They were not our top favourite, but we would repurchase these for Ryerden and I to enjoy from time to time.

SunRype Fruit to Go – Strawberry Flavour

We were somewhat divided on the Strawberry SunRype Fruit to Go strip as well. The strips are somewhat sticky. The flavour was nice, but it was a bit too sweet for my personal taste. That being said, Ryerden and Chris love them, so I’m sure we will repurchase them from time to time. They are also easy to find at several shops in our area which is an added bonus.

FIT Balls – All Natural Fruit & Nut Snacking Bites

I love the simple wholesome ingredients in these FIT Balls – All Natural Fruit & Nut Snacking Bites. We typically prefer to make our own energy bites at home, but these were really delicious! All three of us loved the chocolate hazelnut flavour of these energy bites! We would definitely repurchase these yummy treats. We will also look out for other varieties to taste test in future.

Theobroma Chocolat – 60% Dark Chocolate with Raspberry

We also had differences in opinion with the Theobroma Chocolat – 60% Dark Chocolate with Raspberry. I wasn’t sure what Ryerden would think of this one, but he really enjoyed it! I also really liked the combination of dark chocolate with raspberry flavour. Chris wasn’t a fan of this particular flavour combination. We would repurchase on occasion for a special treat for myself and/or for Ryerden.

Innofoods Dark Chocolate Nuggets – Almonds & Superseeds

The three of us liked the Innofoods Dark Chocolate Nuggets – Almonds & Superseeds. They are sweet clusters of nuts and seed coated in chocolate. They offer different varieties with other seeds, nuts, and dried fruit, so we will look out for different flavours to test in future.
