Ingredients

  • 1 block extra firm tofu
  • 2 Tbsp reduced sodium soy sauce *see note
  • 1 Tbsp nutritional yeast
  • 1 Tbsp steak spice

Directions

  1. Wrap tofu in a kitchen towel and place a book on top to press some of the moisture out. (You can also use a tofu press if you have one.
  2. Combine remaining ingredients (soy sauce, nutritional yeast, and steak spice) to a small bowl and mix thoroughly.
  3. Chop tofu into triangular steaks (or any shape your prefer).
  4. Pour and brush a small amount of the marinade in the bottom of a large baking dish and add the tofu to the baking dish in a single layer.
  5. Pour and brush the marinade all over the tofu steaks, coating them completely.
  6. Add the tofu to the air fryer at 400F for 10 minutes.
  7. Flip the tofu and air fry at 400F for another 5 minutes.
  8. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Please note: this recipe is quite flavourful and salty. If you would prefer a less salty version, use 1 Tbsp each of soy sauce and water, rather than 2 Tbsp soy sauce.
  • Serve with potatoes or a whole grain, and your favourite salad or other vegetables.
